Officially the Kemer-Lexi Resuscitation Pair – every Agent who’s ever had to use one just calls them the paddles.
Two palm-sized plates of chased silver set into dark lacquered wood, joined by a short braided cable to a belt-worn Coraman crystal pack.
Pressed flat to a downed subject’s bare chest and discharged, they deliver a controlled jolt of the same divine-adjacent current that powers the Cannon – not healing in the way a cleric’s hands heal, just enough, sometimes, to restart a stopped heart and buy a few more minutes before something gentler can reach the subject.
FILE NOTES
They don’t fix what’s wrong, they just buy time for something else to.
A successful discharge restarts a stopped heart and nothing more – broken bones stay broken, blood loss stays lost, and a subject revived this way still needs real attention within minutes or the paddles will have bought nothing but a worse few minutes of dying.
Each crystal pack is good for three discharges before it needs swapping.
Standard field-medic training opens with a blunt warning: confirm there’s no pulse before you discharge. A heart that hasn’t stopped does not thank you for the jolt.
STATUS: Standard issue, carried by every field-medic-trained Agent – and, per the quartermaster’s increasingly tired memos, by a number of Agents who are not.
