Girallon

Girallon

The Imperial Bestiary Guild knows it as the girallon – the White Brute of Green Hell, or Demon-Ape of the Deep Jungles, depending which frightened witness is doing the naming. Four-armed, close to eight feet standing, and covered in fur near-impervious to an ordinary blade, a girallon in its natural range is territorial rather than hunting – which made it considerably worse news that the Agents met two of them loose in the middle of Chuza Plaza rather than anywhere near a jungle.

FILE NOTES

Both animals arrived caged, part of a wagon shipment nobody had any business bringing into the city – sedated for transport, and by all accounts secured, until the locks came off during the commissioner’s public address at the Plaza and both cages opened at once. Seven citizens died before the Agents brought the pair down; the wagon driver responsible for them swore under questioning that nobody had gone near the locks the entire time they’d been waiting.

That timing wasn’t coincidence. The same address was the one where Lady Victoria Luger climbed onto the commissioner’s own podium and turned the crowd with her “Action Not Words” speech – and it was in the unrest right after, chains already hanging loose with no locks on them at all, that both cages let go within moments of each other. Sedation wearing off on schedule doesn’t explain missing locks. Whoever wanted the Plaza in chaos that afternoon had more than one way of arranging it.

STATUS: Filed under The Unknown as a species record, not an individual. Both animals destroyed. Whoever – or whatever – opened those cages during a public address in the middle of the city remains unidentified.
