No official name on the inventory sheet beyond the obvious one. Not a handset at all – a worn pair: a plain ring, spoken into directly to transmit, and a separate earpiece that melds into the ear canal to receive, snug enough not to fall out and discreet enough that most people won’t spot ..

Officially the Kemer-Lexi Resuscitation Pair – every Agent who’s ever had to use one just calls them the paddles. Two palm-sized plates of chased silver set into dark lacquered wood, joined by a short braided cable to a belt-worn Coraman crystal pack. Pressed flat to a downed subject’s bare chest and discharged, they deliver ..
Standard patrol armour, as issued to the City Watch and Section 18’s own Agents alike, is built for a shift that might run twelve hours and end in a dead sprint across three rooftops – not a pitched battle. It shows: lighter than it looks, articulated at every joint that needs to bend in a ..
The Kemer-Lexi Cannon – KemerCann for short, though never in front of the quartermaster who signs them out – is the standard sidearm of the Chuza city watch and Section 18’s Agents alike. It reads, at a glance, like a compact hand crossbow. What it actually is, is a great deal less mundane: a crossbow ..
Aramis pods look like nothing worth a second glance – dark green, avocado-soft, with a seam that splits clean in half. Bitter at first bite, sweetening as you chew, they stain the teeth red the way a kola nut does. Dew recognised them instantly at the broken crate on Chuza wharf: “My father loves these. ..
Bumblebee is the drug that finally gave Twitch some real competition on Chuza’s streets – a piss-straw coloured liquid with a faint honey smell, sold in the same small glass bulbs as its older rival, each one holding four measured doses rather than one. Where Twitch sharpens the senses, Bumblebee hits like a battle stimulant: ..
Coraman crystals are the single invention that changed daily life across the Empire more than any other in living memory – introduced the better part of a century ago, and by now so ordinary that most people in Chuza couldn’t tell you how one actually works. What they store is arcane mana itself, drawn from ..
A shigawire recorder looks unremarkable from the outside – a small box, fitted with a Coraman crystal, holding two spools with an organic-looking wire strung taut between them. Using it is not unremarkable at all: the recorder has to concentrate and, in the words the Agents were given when they first watched one demonstrated, “become ..
Twitch is Chuza’s oldest working street stimulant, sold on corners long before Bumblebee ever showed up to compete with it. In its rawest form it’s nothing more than dried, bright green, sharply lobed leaves, dissolved straight under the tongue; refined, it reduces to a thick emerald liquid that smells unmistakably of spearmint no matter how ..
