STATUS Front desk sergeant, Section 18 SECTION On duty since before any serving Agent can remember FIRST ON RECORD Session 1 – already at the desk
Bowlohr has manned the Section 18 front desk since before any Agent currently serving can recall it being anyone else. He nods Agents through, vets visitors, and has never once, in living memory, been absent, late, or relieved for a shift change. Most people who pass his desk daily have never thought to ask why.
The honest answer is that he can’t be relieved, because he isn’t strictly alive to begin with – an experimental construct, built to hold the desk permanently and give every Agent walking through the door the same familiar face, year after year, without the gaps and handovers a mortal staff rotation would leave behind. It works. Nobody questions Bowlohr. That’s rather the point of him.
FILE NOTES
Look closely and the construction shows – faint seams at the jaw, a stillness in the eyes that never quite matches a living man’s, a soft ember light that pulses at his throat in time with a breath he doesn’t actually need. Nobody looks closely. He remembers every face that has ever passed his desk, appears entirely unbothered by the security ‘mouth’ malfunctioning and screaming ALERT at newer recruits, and has never once needed convincing that an Agent standing in front of him is who they say they are.
STATUS: Filed under The Good. Whoever built him clearly meant well, and the effect – a face nothing about Section 18 ever has to explain twice – speaks for itself.
